10 Gratitude Journal Prompt Ideas to Help Reach Your Goals + Gratitude Quotes.

Ever heard of the 10th apple effect? It’s this metaphor for practicing gratitude. Basically, you get your first apple and you decide that it tasted so good that you want more. You successfully get an apple tree that bears a lot of fruit. However, by the time you get to your 10th apple, the apple doesn’t taste as good anymore.

What we immediately think is oh, maybe that apple is bad but then the 11th one doesn’t taste as good as the first one, and so on and so forth. What we failed to realize is that the 10th apple and all the apples actually taste exactly the same. Just as crisp and just as tasty. What changed was our appreciation for that apple and the gratitude we had and felt when we got it.

Practicing gratitude daily is a great weapon when trying to go after your goals. As an athlete, this is something that is INTEGRAL to reaching your goals and I realized that it also pertains to other life goals as well and it’s something that you constantly have to practice. While I am not perfect and fail at it all the time, I noticed that my best periods of time, mentally and physically, were when I appreciated the moments big and small. Enjoyed the journey and understood that all the little steps towards my ultimate goal are worthy of praise and love too.
