I wanted to write a recap of my last meet that I competed in at Ocean Breeze in NY. My indoor season consisted of about 3 meets roughly. Our focus this season was to figure out the technique and fix certain things from a half approach (which means less speed and technique) so that when I go to full approach there are fewer major things to fix. I found that I enjoyed not having a full indoor season because it gave me time to adjust and not just be thrown into competitions and this new world of elite sports.
This meet had some big things. I consistently used double arm technique throughout the jumps. The second was that I was able to stay composed throughout the entire competition. That was probably the biggest thing for me. Since I know that I can be my own worse enemy when it comes to competitions.
The only bad thing about this meet was that because there was only three people competing, including myself, we weren’t able to take any breaks. It was rapid-fire jumping which really took a toll on my body. So up until this day, which is today the day that I’m writing this I’m recovering from a slight bruise on the side of my foot from incorrectly landing during one of my jumps.
While that does suck, all is cool since I have an amazing PT who is helping me recover and plus, I can still practice and jump so it’s not that bad.
Above is the video. I hope you enjoy it. My hard work is really starting to take shape and form and that makes my heart super happy.
While the virus is delaying the start of my outdoor season I’m currently using this time to be even better than ever so when it is time to compete I’ll be JUMPIN’ OUT THE GYM!
Training doesn’t stop, gotta keep going after it.
Signing off,
Domonique
