The Secret to Staying Hydrated

Let me let you in on a secret…

No one enjoys drinking nothing but water.

Okay, fine, that’s probably not a secret but think about it. There are so many companies out there selling beverages and drink tablets that fight very hard to make drinking water fun and more enjoyable then it really is. So let’s be honest, while it might be the most NECESSARY beverage in the ENTIRE world, its lack of distinct taste makes it really hard to be out of its sugary beverage competitors.

For the last two Lents, I’ve always made drinking nothing BUT water my commitment to God. What I found after the 40 days of only drinking water, was INSANE! I found out the secret to staying hydrated and drinking your recommended daily water intake without it feeling like torture!

So sit tight and buckle up! You’re about to learn the secret to constantly staying hydrated.

Think of water like gas for that pretty body of yours. Let your body run out of gas and you’ll start experiencing nausea, headaches, muscle spasms and cramps, tiredness, and fatigue.

That sounds like a medicine side effect list, RIGHT!

Well, we all know we don’t want to experience that.

This is the secret – OMG HERE WE GO!!!!

Part 1: Start early

– Starting to drink water when you initially wake up in the morning is the sure-fire way to drink all the water you need during the day! What I do is keep my water bottle right next to my bed, or bear with me, a glass of water next to my bed or on my nightstand. Then when my alarm clock goes off I just drink it. Its usually like 10 oz of water and BAM that’s out of the way. You can literally drink probably 16-20 oz immediately when you wake up. I find out the best way is to chug in the morning.

Part 2: Carry a reusable water bottle with you that is 32 oz or more

– This is a big part of the secret that you should always remember! The more water your water bottle holds the more likely you are going to finish it throughout the day and the fewer times you have to refill it. I know with my physical activity level and bodyweight I have to drink about 96 ounces a day. So I have a 32 oz water bottle so that I only have to fill it up about 3 times a day. This is really convenient because after that I’m done and it’s fewer things to think about. The smaller the bottle the more times you have to fill it up.

Part 3 – Get it in fruit/vegetables

-This is the final part of the secret. Only cause I feel like people forget that a lot of fruits and vegetables have water in them. It might not be a super ton depending on the fruit, but it’s one way to top off your water intake and stay hydrated.

Well Party people, there you have it the true secret to staying hydrated. It’s all in your strategy and your execution. Now go out there and be great!

Signing off,

Domonique
